February Letter

Well, at least I've managed only a month since my last letter! ;o)

It's been a chaotic few weeks and lots has happened. I've just not found the time to sit down and write, although I've often had the inclination. We leave for Botswana tomorrow and I have more packing to do, but I'm taking a break and thought I would write a few words.

Erica has made it over to the UK safely and is settling down. She says it has been quite a culture shock for her! She has been to the Job Centre to get her National Insurance number and registered with some employment agencies, so we are hoping for a job for her really soon.

Actually, I’ve been missing her. Strange, when you remember how she drives me around the bend! ;o) However, no matter what, she is my daughter and I love her endlessly!

I’d better explain about the Botswana trip! Simon has wanted to go to Bots for ages, and after years of talking and months of planning, we’re on our way. Phew! There’s a lot of planning to do! We have lists. And lists. And lists! If you want to see one of them, I will paste it on one of the Pages on this blog. It’s one that I drew up by googling “camping lists” and a whole variety of other search options, copy/pasting those lists into word, then collating all of them into one looooooong list. Yes, you do need all that stuff and yes, we do have most of it. I say ‘most of it’ because, for example, we’re using a roof-top tent, so we don’t need guy-ropes, pegs, and a ground sheet.

We will be driving into Botswana at a border post just above Gaborone and spending our first night at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Then we work our way through the Central Kalahari to the Okavango. Across the Caprivi Strip into Namibia, we have a few days in Etosha, then work our way down Namibia, along the Skeleton Coast and home via Augrabies and Kimberley. We leave on Saturday 1st March, return over the Easter weekend.

Yes, I will be posting stories and photos here. We will also load a web page with photos for you to see.

Almost 3 weeks ago I slipped on the stairs and sprained my ankle, with a couple of torn ligaments and tendons for good measure. I’ve been off work and at work with limited mobility, so this month’s work productivity has been very low and I’ve probably not made target… dammit! However, I’ve done a lot of goodwill marketing which seems to have worked as new business is coming in for the other reps. Apart from that, work is… well… work.

This is going to have to do for now as I need to get on and finish up before bed. We’ve still got to finish off a few things.

Love to all!
